Lara Croft is going somewhere familiar in first ‘Tomb Raider’ trailer

Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander is armed and ready to take on the role of Lara Croft from the "Tomb Raider" series. 

The first official trailer doesn't hold back on action and shows Croft falling and leaping as she explores — much like in the popular video game. 

Roar Uthaug directs the screenplay by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, which follows the adventures of a young and brash Croft. 

Croft is forced to confront the mysteries surrounding her father's death and she sets sail for a fabled tomb on a mythical island somewhere near a familiar archipelago for Filipinos.

Vikander is joined by Dominic West, Walton Goggins, and Daniel Wu.

"Tomb Raider" is set to open in Philippine theaters in March 2018. — AT, GMA News
