Vocal attraction: J-Pop star kradness JAMs with fans at Cosplay Mania 2017
For 23-year-old J-Pop sensation kradness, computers and music aren’t just tools for recreation — they are his bread and butter.
The EDM musician calls his genre “[game music],” describing his artistic process as one that involves “[a lot of tinkering]” on his personal computer.
In Japan, kradness is known as an utaite, a singer who specializes in creating cover versions of anime- and game-related themes, as well as songs rendered via Vocaloid, a popular digital voice synthesizer.
He considers his most popular hit to be “Okochama Sensou,” a high-speed, upbeat duet with his frequent collaborator, Reol.
Effortless “cosplay”
Interestingly, the J-Pop star looks more like he belongs inside a computer game than creates music inspired by one, from his seemingly anime-inspired hairstyle to his energetic, lively demeanor.
This is likely why he felt elated to be present at this year’s Cosplay Mania event, which was held at the SMX Convention Center from September 30 to October 1.

During his special performance at Cosplay Mania’s JAM (Japanese Anime Music) Concert event, kradness noticed that his Filipino fans were extremely lively and energetic — more so than any of his fans from other countries. In fact, he was a bit surprised to see how much they “[rejoiced]” every time he invited them to cheer or sing along.
For kradness, seeing cosplay, a staple of Japanese culture, thriving in the Philippines was quite interesting.
Beyond cultural boundaries
For kradness, seeing cosplay, a staple of Japanese culture, thriving in the Philippines was quite interesting.
The J-Pop artist was “[really happy]” to see legions of cosplayers at the event, donning the familiar suits of their favorite fictional characters while showcasing their crafting and acting skills as well.
One other thing he really likes about the Philippines? “[The food,]” he exclaims with a wide smile. — AT, GMA News
