Robert Rodriguez's adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's ‘Ganmu’ looks epic
Director Robert Rodriguez is taking advantage of James Cameron's groundbreaking technology developed for "Avatar" to bring the pages of Yukito Kishiro's "Ganmu" to the big screen.
"Ganmu" — released in the US as "Battle Angel Alita" — is getting the Hollywood treatment as "Alita: Battle Angel" and the first official trailer is nothing short of epic.
Rosa Salazar (Brenda in the "Maze Runner" sequels) plays the titular character Alita, an amnesiac cyborg who in the manga turns into a hunter of rogue cyborgs and later a Motorball player. Supporting her is a list of critically acclaimed actors, including Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, and Mahershala Ali.
"Alita: Battle Angel" is produced by Jon Landau and Cameron, who co-wrote the screenplay with Rodriguez and Laeta Kalogridis.
“Alita: Battle Angel” will open July 2018 in Philippines cinemas, to be distributed by Warner Bros. — AT, GMA News
