PHLPost issues ‘Mama Sita’ birth centenary stamps


The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) this month commemorated the birth centenary of culinary icon Teresita “Mama Sita" Reyes.

The stamp, designed by Ian Darren Aycocho and Cristian Molina, features Reyes's portrait framed by the words "Kabayan, Ina, Kusinera."

Each stamp costs P12 with only 80,000 copies in print.

“We are proud to be part of this important milestone in paying tribute to 'Mama Sita’s birth centenary' and her untiring effort and dedication of keeping the flavors of Filipino Food one of the world’s best,” Postmaster General Joel Otarra said.

In 2014, PHL Post issued stamps featuring designs by Laguna-based artist Manuel Baldemor to honor Reyes' culinary legacy and nationalism.

Mama Sita was born in Manila on May 11, 1917, the eldest daughter of restaurateurs who founded the Aristocrat chain.
