PASINAYA 2018 DELIGHTS

Philippine Philharmonic does 'Baby Shark,' the Madz sing about 'Chilly Con Carne'

The world renowned Filipino artists did not fail to amuse the young audience of the recently concluded "Pasinaya Open House Festival" as they churned out Pop Songs and performances with a little quirk.

The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra performed beautiful rendition of the songs from Phantom of the Opera.

They surprised the audience, mostly students, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) by performing the popular song, "Despacito."

But the audience were floored with "Baby Shark," eliciting claps, laughter while some swayed to the catchy beat.

The audience was attentive to the songs performed by the multi-awarded Philippine Madrigal Singers. But one particular tune surprised the audience, this was when the group seemed to be singing "Chilly Con Carne."

The Pasinaya Open House Festival, which is on its 14th year, is the CCP's opening salvo for the year featuring snippets of performances with the aim of attracting a wider range of audience to patronize the arts.

Pasinaya Festival Director Chris Millado, who is also CCP vice president and artistic director, reported an increase in the number of visitors this year.

From 63,000 guests in 2017, Pasinaya 2018 attracted about 85,000 people who watched the simultaneous performances, museum visitors and participants of workshops held during the two-day event.

Millado also reported that festival participants reached 4,000 coming from as far as Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod, and Bicol.

There are three additional museum partners, Millado added. — BAP, GMA News
