Philippines bags gold award in Los Angeles International Music Festival 2018


Congratulations!

Playing the "Alvamar Overture" by James Barnes and "John Williams in Concert" by Paul Lavender, the De La Salle Santiago Zobel Symphonic Band — representing the Philippines — bagged the gold award at the Los Angeles International Music Festival 2018, held Monday, June 18 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA.

Incidentally, the De La Salle Symphonic Band, comprised of elementary and high school students, is the only band to come Asia.

They competed against several from the US and Europe.

According to the Zobel band, they were invited to join the prestigious competition after winning Silver in Hawaii last year.

According to its website, the LA International Music Festival is a 5-day festival wherein participants joined in workshops, played for the Disneyland crowd, and of course competed. — LA, GMA News
