Living Coral is Pantone Color of the Year 2019

“An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge,” this is how color authority Pantone described Living Coral, its chosen color of the year 2019.

According to Pantone, “Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity.” It also symbolizes our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, Pantone said in a Facebook post.

Pantone has been declaring its Color of the Year for 20 years, influencing product development and trends in fashion, home furnishing, product and packaging.

“To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new color influences. This can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular  travel destinations as well as new lifestyles, playstyles, and socio-economic conditions,” Pantone revealed in its website.
