The 24th French Film Festival will head out to Bacolod for the very first time
The French Film Festival is celebrating 24 years in the Philippines and for the first time ever, it will head out to Bacolod.
It will now be enjoyed in for major cities across the Philippines:
- Metro Manila (Taguig and Makati): June 12-18
- Cebu City: June 20-22
- Davao City: June 28-30
- Bacolod City: July 10-12
This year’s lineup consists of 15 contemporary French movies, released between 2014 and 2018.
“The selection of films this year carries the theme of family and human relationships, some of which explore the place of women in society,” the French Ambassador Nicolas Galey said in a statement.

French director Nils Tavernier will grace the premiere night on June 11, during which his film, “The Ideal Palace,” will be screened.
And much like before, June 12 will feature Filipino films that have either been co-produced with France or have been screened in prestigious festivals in France:
- “Above the Clouds” by Pepe Diokno, co-produced with funding from Aide aux Cinemas du Monde
- “Waiting for Sunset” by Carlo Catu, which won the Audience Award at the 2019 Vesoul Festival of Asian Cinema
- “Jodilerks de la Cruz” by Carlo Manatad, featured in 2018 Semaine de la Critique at Cannes Film Festival
- “Perfumed Nightmare” by National Artist Kidlat Tahimik, which was shot in Paris while he was working as an economist in the OECD.
