Michelle Dee, daughter of Melanie Marquez, joins Miss World Philippines 2019

Michelle Dee is following her mother's footsteps into the world of beauty pageants.

The Kapuso star is among the women who have joined the Miss World Philippines 2019 competition.

"Yesterday was such an experience please continue to support me and all the other girls throughout this journey," Michelle wrote in one of her Instagram stories.

Michelle is the daughter of Melanie Marquez, who won the Miss International pageant in 1979. Her cousin Winwyn Marquez also made pageant history after being crowned Reina Hispanoamericana in 2017.

In an earlier interview, Michelle said Melanie would always tell her to "always be confident in yourself."

Her fellow Kapuso stars Kelley Day and Isabelle de Leon are also among the candidates vying for the Miss World Philippines crowns. —JST, GMA News
