"He Walked This Way:" A Tribute to Carlos Celdran" is a two-part event on October 19, Saturday that will start with comedian Gabe Mercado's performance tour of Intramuros. The meeting place will be at Fort Santiago.
It will be followed by a night of toast for the late cultural activist at the Puerta Real Gardens at 7pm.
The tour comes with a P500 fee but the toast is free and open to the public.
Celdran was well-known for his tours of Intramuros that bordered on performance art.
In their post, VivaManila wrote, "Carlos Celdran worked tirelessly to make people to see the beauty of the Old City.
"He was a rabble rouser, a rule-breaker, a non-conformist who challenged the way things were done and who shattered perceptions and protocol. All this to reclaim a city many have given up on. It's almost as if he gave his life so that Manila may live again," it added.
According to his wife, Celdran died of natural causes but no further details about his death has been made available. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
