Lea Salonga honored by U2's HERstory tribute
Lea Salonga thanked U2 for featuring her as a women's icon during the Irish band's HERstory tribute in its December 11 concert.
The award-winning singer and actress shared only found out on Thursday morning that she was included in the tribute during the band's Ultra Violet performance in its first Manila tour.
"Wow, I am dead. Thank you for those messages, friends, and thank you, U2 for including me! Honored!" she wrote on Twitter.

Lea was featured alongside former President Corazon Aquino, embattled journalist Maria Ressa, activist Lidy Nacpil, girl group GRRRL Gang Manila, the Grandwoman of the Revolution Melchora Aquino and Senator Pia Cayetano during the segment. Their pictures were projected on-screen during the band's tribute.

The band also paid homage to international female icons like the UK Suffragettes, disability rights activist Ruth Sienkiewicz-Mercer and the Women of Iceland. —JST, GMA News
