Giant ‘Captain Barbell’ mural in QC honors frontliners

A different kind of hero is watching over residents in Teacher’s Village, Quezon City.

A group of artists called Art Attack has painted a humongous “Captain Barbell” mural on one side of a condominium building to honor the heroic frontliners in the fight against COVID-19.

Captain Barbell was on point down to the cape and the muscles, but if you look closely you’ll notice he’s wearing a face mask, a blue uniform, and a pair of gloves.

This version of the Filipino superhero is also holding a cotton swab rather than a barbell.

AG Saño of Art Attack shared the photos of the mural on Facebook with a caption calling for “systematic and wider testing.”

The artist also says: “Thank you, frontliners! Fight more! There is still a virus. Not yet done. Triple take care friends. If you can be at home, if you can, stay home for now. If you need to go out, extra care and take care.”

The same team had painted a mural of “Darna” wearing a medical uniform just on the other side of the building earlier last month. – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
