Howie Severino's 'Ako si Patient 2828' wins Best TV Documentary in the 18th Gawad Tanglaw


Howie Severino's documentary about his COVID-19 experience won the Best TV Documentary trophy in the 18th Gawad Tanglaw Awards.

"Ako si Patient 2828," which aired on "i-Witness" last April, showed not only Howie's battle against the virus, but also showcased the delicate situation of frontliners by way of Howie's nurse-turned-friend Gab Lazaro, who collaborated with the journalist on creating the documentary.

"Ako si Patient 2828" happens to have the most number of Facebook views among "i-Witness" documentaries this year with a whopping 9,623,276 views as of writing.  

On YouTube, the winning documentary boasts 1,320,136 views as of writing.

Severino shares the accolade with Raffy Bosano's "Heroes in the Hot Zone."

Meanwhile, Allen Dizon won Best Actor in a Single Performance for his work in Magpakailanman's Father's Day episode entitled "Naging Ama Ang Babae." The two-part episode told the story of Roxanne D'Salles, a former US Army who underwent a gender reassignment surgery.

Allen took to Facebook to thank the award-giving body, Director Zig Dulay, everybody who worked on Magpakailanman, and GMA 7.
