Former Manila Bulletin Lifestyle editor Ethel Timbol passes away

Former Manila Bulletin Lifestyle editor Ethel Timbol passed away on Sunday morning. She was 80 years old.

The unfortunate news was confirmed to GMA News Online by her daughter Bebeth, who said her mom died at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, September 6.

According to Manila Bulletin, Timbol was in the hospital for pneumonia and died in her sleep.

"Timbol had had a long history of illness, including diabetes and cancer, with which she battled for years," wrote AA Patawaran, Bulletin's current lifestyle editor.

Timbol was a long-standing editor at the paper. She joined Bulletin in 1960 covering the police beat and 16 years later, in 1976, she was appointed lifestyle editor. It was a post she would hold for 47 years, until she retired in 2007.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Timbol's family and friends. — LA, GMA News
