Miss Peru Janick Del Castillo asks netizens to stop bullying Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza

Miss Peru Janick Maceta Del Castillo asked netizens to stop bullying Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza.

On Instagram, the Peruvian beauty, who won 2nd runner-up, dedicated a post for the new Miss Universe queen.

Congratulating Andrea, Janick described her friend as "a person who lights up everyone around you. I love you so much and I will never forget the laughs we shared and the moments we live."

"I wish you all the success in this new phase," she continued. "May God be with you, bless and protect you always, here's a friend for life. Love you with all my heart. I'm so proud of you."

At the latter part of her post, Miss Peru asked netizens to stop hateful comments saying she hopes to see "more love" and that they "deserve respect."

She encouraged netizens to "use our platforms to deliver positive messages."

"Stop bullying. I will not accept any type of negative comments, we all deserve RESPECT. Let's spread more love and positive messages," she added.

Majority of the viewers initially guessed Miss Peru to win the pageant that after the announcement of winners, the phrase "Bakit Mexico" trended on Twitter.

Philippine bet Rabiya Mateo finished her stint at the 69th Miss Universe early in the Top 21.

Rabiya hoped to become the fifth Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown after Catriona Gray (2018), Pia (2015), Margarita Moran (1973) and Gloria Diaz (1969).

Andrea of Mexico was crowned as the new Miss Universe followed by Brazil's Julia Gama as the 1st runner-up, Jacnick of Peru as the 2nd runner-up, India's Adline Castelino as the 3rd runner-up, and Dominican Republic's Kimberly Jimenez as the 4th runner-up. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
