Howie Severino to discuss Baybayin as cultural resource to Filipinos in Likhang HABI Kalayaan Online Fair
Award-winning veteran journalist Howie Severino will discuss Baybayin at the Likhang HABI Kalayaan Online Fair.
According to a press statement, the GMA News pillar will talk about the ancient script as an "important cultural resource and a vital part of the Filipino identity."
His talk titled, "Atin 'To! Baybayin Then and Now," is scheduled on June 16 at 7 p.m.
Aside from Severino, other respected Filipino personalities will also have free, special live discussions on Filipino heritage and culture.
Meanwhile, "Kiko Machine" and "News Hardcore" author and popular comic artist Manix Abrera will take audiences through a discussion on the effects of the pandemic on local comics in "Bulwagan ng Misteryo! Mga Kwentong Komix ngayong New Normal!" on June 18, 3 p.m.
Award-winning writer, musician, and TV personality Lourd de Veyra will kick off the series of talks by casting a light on the power of buying local in "All Buy Ourselves: Purchasing Local as an Act of Patriotism" on June 12, 3 p.m.
Other Filipino personalities who will give talks at the online event include Philippine fashion icon Ditta Sandico, Filipino anthropologist and cultural historian Dr. Fernando "Butch" Zialcita, certified dog behavior specialist Jennie Fajardo Peres of Pup Culture, sound healer Yeyette San Luis, and fashion designer Victor Baguilat Jr. of Kandama, a social enterprise that aims to provide economic opportunities to indigenous women of Julongan village in Kiangan.
The Philippine Textile Council will hold another fair where patrons can enjoy more shopping finds on June 12-20, 2021 at shophabifair.com.
