Muslim actor Abdul Raman expresses satisfaction with how ‘Legal Wives’ portrayed his religion
Muslim actor Abdul Raman has expressed his satisfaction with how the GMA drama "Legal Wives" portrayed his religion.
"I am very, very satisfied with the show and how it portrayed my religion," he said at the press conference for the series on Tuesday.
“Parang tagal ko na gusto ilabas 'yun, na, 'hey! This is my religion. It's not as bad as most of media shows it.'"
With "Legal Wives," said to be the first Muslim serye on Philippine TV, airing its final episodes this week, Abdul hoped it enlightened viewers and eradicated misconceptions about Islam.
"Ramdam na ramdam ko siya sa social media, sa friends around me saying, 'Alam mo, Abdul, ang dami kong natutunan sa 'Legal Wives,'" Abdul said. "Tapos sasabihin nila na ganda daw ng values ng Muslim."
[I really felt it on social media, with friends around me saying, “You know, Abdul, I learned so much from 'Legal Wives.'” Then they tell me that Muslims have good values.]
He added: "All I can say is Alhamdulillah."
Abdul had mentioned earlier that "Legal Wives" allowed him to get more in touch with his religion.
"Legal Wives," which started airing in July, will come to a close this week. Aside from Abdul, it stars Dennis Trillo, Bianca Umali, Andrea Torres, and Alice Dixson. – RC, GMA News
