Filipino artist Conrado 'Dondi' Ong passes away


Renowned Filipino artist Conrado "Dondi" Ong III has passed away. He was 55.

His fraternity Upsilon Sigma Phi confirmed the news on Thursday, sharing that Dondi passed away last Tuesday.

"We join the country in remembering his passion and contributions to the Filipino music industry," the org wrote in a Facebook post.

"Brother, when we see you in the sun, we shall tell you much."

Graduated as magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Music from the University of the Philippines Diliman, Dondi joined the touring cast of the acclaimed "Phantom of the Opera" as Piangi, the principal tenor of the production.

He was also elevated to the Aliw Awards Hall of Fame after he received the Best Male Classical Performer Award three times.

Details about the time and cause of his death are yet to be released.
