Miss Universe queens mourn passing of Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kyrst
The global pageant community is mourning the loss of Miss USA Cheslie Kyrst, who passed away Sunday in New York City.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray bid a heartbreaking farewell to her fellow contestant in an Instagram post.
"Ches...I can't believe the news. Rest in peace angel. The world will miss your light," she wrote in the caption.
The Pinay beauty queen also provided contact details for a suicide prevention hotline, and encouraged her followers to reach out to their friends and loved ones.
"These continue to be isolating times, mental health is so important," Catriona said. "Let's not downplay its importance in the lives of every individual."
Reigning Miss Universe, Harnaaz Sandhu from India, shared a photo she took with Cheslie after her coronation last December.
“This is heartbreaking and unbelievable, you were always an inspiration to many," Harnaaz wrote.
The Miss Universe Organization has also issued a statement on Cheslie's death, describing her as "one of the brightest, warmest, and most kind people we have ever had the privilege of knowing, and she lit up every room she entered."
According to the New York Post, the 30-year-old beauty queen died Sunday after falling from a 60-story building in New York City.
Cheslie’s last post on Instagram was a photo of herself dressed in black, with a caption saying: “May this day bring you rest and peace.”
