Photographer commemorates Pinatubo eruption with fashion photoshoot at Pampanga Megadike

A Kapampangan photographer commemorated the 31st anniversary of the Mt. Pinatubo eruption through a fashion photoshoot.

According to Jonathan Andal's report on "24 Oras," Saturday, Gerald Gloton wanted to do something special to remember the strength and spirit of Filipinos after the tragedy that claimed over 700 lives in June 1991.

"Bumuo kami ng concept na kung saan mag-shoo-shoot kami nga doon sa Mega Dike which is 'yun ang naging pananggalang ng mga Kapampangan sa lahar," he said.

("We developed a concept where we will shoot at the Megadike, which is what shielded the Kapampangans from the lahar.")

Gerald's models wore off-white dresses and makeup and posed for photos on the dike.

"'Yung resilience nga po ng mga Kapampangan ay talagang evident and through that imagery dun po namin chinannel 'yung tatag ng mga Kapapampangan," he said.

("The resilience of the Kapampangans are evident through that imagery and that's how we channeled their grit.")
