'The Sound of Music' Broadway musical is coming to Manila!

The Sound of Music Broadway musical is coming to the Philippines this March!

Taking place at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, Circuit Makati, it will run from March 7-26.

The international Broadway hit features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. It's directed by Tony Award-winning director Jack O'Brien.

In 1960, the musical won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Actress. The musical was adapted into a film of the same name starring Julie Andrews ("Princess Diaries") and went on to become the highest grossing film of 1965 and win five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

"The Sound of Music" tells the story of Maria, who takes care of widower Captain von Trapp's seven children. Aside from the loss of their wife and mother, their home is also being lost to the Nazis during World War II. However, Maria uplifts their lives by injecting music into their home.
