Faces at the Nazareno 2023 Walk of Faith
The first-ever Walk of Faith held Sunday in the leadup to the Feast of the Black Nazarene was filled with people wishing and thanking the Lord for their lives and what comes with it.
On early Sunday morning, while everyone was walking from the Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church, GMA Integrated News was able to talk to some who were kind enough to share their reasons for joining the Walk of Faith.
Most of them said their participation was to show they are grateful for everything that the Black Nazarene has done for them. Others, meanwhile, said they pray for blessings this new year.
Their reasons for joining maybe different for each one, but for sure, faith drives them to join to look forward though 2023 with hope.
While the image of the Black Nazarene was not present during the event, Fr. Earl Valdez of the Quiapo Church said he saw how everyone “embraced [Walk of Faith] totally.”
Nazareno 2023’s Walk of Faith was held, taking the place of the annual Traslacion in compliance with COCID-19 heath protocols.
Some 88,000 attendees walked for two-and-a half hours to show their faith.
This year’s festivities were already kicked off with Novena Masses that started on December 31, 2022. It will last until January 9, where Cardinal Jose Advincula will lead a Mass to be held at 12:01 a.m. —LBG, GMA Integrated News
