Dolly De Leon on her first acting award in PH: 'Mabuhay ang Pelikulang Pilipino!'


Dolly de Leon was full of gratitude after winning the Best Supporting Actress award at this year's Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

On Instagram, Dolly thanked the people who helped pave the way for to win her first award in the Philippines.

"Thank you, [Cinemalaya] jurors!" the veteran actress began.

"Sa taranta ko hindi ako nakapag thank you sa inyo. Sarap ng feeling mapansin sa isa sa mga pinaka nirerespeto kong indie film fest," she added.

Dolly then thanked her colleagues in the industry, including Geo Lomuntad, Maxine Rae, Carl Papa, Janel Gutierrez, and Paolo O'Hara, among others.

"[Dustin Celestino], thank you for giving us the honor of playing characters you created with so much care and love," she said. "I am so proud and honored to be side by side with you and Janel, fighting the good fight."

"Mabuhay ang Pelikulang Pilipino!" she concluded.

The veteran actress played a mother in the film "Iti Mapukpukaw," which won Best Film.

Aside from "Iti Mapukpukaw," Dolly also starred in the Cinemalaya entry "Ang Duyan ng Magiting," which won the Special Jury Prize.

Dolly's career has been on a roll since she starred in "Triangle of Sadness." She picked up historic nominations for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs.
