Parisian bookshop Shakespeare and Company is now carrying 'Trese'
"Trese" has certainly come a long way.
The "Trese" box set of Volumes 1-6 is now available in legendary Parisian bookstore Shakespeare and Company.
"Trese" writer Budjette Tan shared the good news on Facebook with a link to the bookstore's online shop, where it retails for 103 euros.
According to Shakespeare and Company, the box set is not available in-store but it is available to order. The independent bookstore will ship orders worldwide shortly after the box set's publication date, which is today, January 2.
"The Trese Volume 1-6 Box Set contains the first 6 volumes of the bestselling, critically acclaimed Filipino horror series, collected into an attractive box set compilation, and includes a folded bonus poster, featuring original box/poster designs by series artist Kajo Baldisimo," Shakespeare and Company describes the Filipino comic book sensation.
Published by Ablaze Publishing, the box set also contains updated artwork and extra material, like Alexandra's journal entries.
Speaking to GMA News Online, Budjette said "We're happy that Ablaze released this box set of Trese, with all six books. It gives new readers a chance to get all the current books and catch up all the stories of Trese. I'm extremely happy to see that one of the bookstores that ordered it is Shakespeare and Company. I got to visit that store a couple of years ago and loved the few minutes I got to explore the shelves and nooks and crannies of that historic store."
Located on the banks of Siene, across the Notre Dame Cathedral, Shakespeare and Company is an English-language bookshop that's become a must-visit when traveling Paris.
Founded by American George Whitman at 37 rue de la Bûcherie, Shakespeare and Company opened in 1951 as Le Mistral. It renamed to Shakespeare and Company in April 1964 in honor of Sylvia Beach, who founded the original Shakespeare and Company in 1919.
Meanwhile, "Trese" began as a P30-self-published photocopied comic book in 2005. It generated quite the following thanks to the riveting tales involving Alexandra Trese, a paranormal investigator who steps in whenever authorities encounter cases involving creatures straight out of Philippine folklore.
In 2021, "Trese" became the first Filipino Netflix animated series. And now, it's at Shakespeare and Company— as well as in Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, and Waterstone.
