Cebu City is all set for upcoming 459th Fiesta Señor

Cebu City is set to hold the 459th celebration of the Fiesta Señor!

According to Alan Domingo’s report on “24 Oras,” Friday, there are no more restrictions set for the festival, which is why the management of the Basilica Del Santo Niño is already expecting the crowd of devotees who will take part in the penitential walks.

On Thursday, January 11, the Walk with Jesus tradition will signal the start of the nine-day novena for the child Jesus.

On the ninth day, they will hold the Walk with Mary.

“As we celebrate the Fiesta Señor, we appeal to all devotees again, pilgrims and guests, to adhere to all protocols that are being implemented for safe, orderly, and solemn conduct of our religious celebration,” Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño Rev. Fr. John Ion Miranda said.

They will hold the Traslacion on January 19, where the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe and Sto. Niño will be taken to the National Shrine of St. Joseph in Mandaue City.

The images will then be shown through a motorcade until they reach Lapu-Lapu City, where the January 20 Fluvial Procession will begin.

The Coast Guard Station in Central Cebu said that registration for those who want to participate in the Fluvial Procession will end on January 15.

Following the Fluvial Procession, the first-ever baptism in the Philippines will be reenacted at the Pilgrim Grounds of the Basilica del Santo Niño.

The Solemn Foot Procession will be held at noon on January 20 and will be followed by a Visperas mass, which will mark the end of the hour-long traditional Sinulog dance.
