Welcome Philippine National Arts Month with a free visit to Yuchengco Museum!
Philippine National Arts Month is February and what better way to welcome the banner month for the arts than a visit to the museum?
Yuchengco Museum in Makati is waiving its P200 admission fee until Friday, February 2, making it the best time to immerse yourself in art and get it into your mindset.
Open from 10am-6pm, the four-floor Yuchengco Museum houses the art collection of Ambassador Alfonso T. Yuchengco, and highlights his career as a businessman, diplomat, collector, philanthropist, patron of the arts, and advocate for education in the Philippines and beyond.
But it's wonderful year-long exhibition of paintings by National Artist Fernando Amorsolo that should really call your attention.
The museum also just welcomed five new Amorsolo paintings into the fold, making their main gallery offering a lot richer than it already is.
Generously bequeathed by the US-based Danilo Soriano Family Foundation to the Fernando Amorsolo Art Foundation, the latter decided to share the paintings with the Yuchengco Museum.
The Yuchengco Museum would occasionally waive fees, making art a lot more accessible to the public. Here's hoping more museums do the same.
In the meantime, make sure to take advantage of all the art events in Metro Manila in month including the Luneta Art Fair, which is taking place in the first weekend of February and the annual Art Fair Philippines, happening on Feb. 16-18.
