Jehza Huelar reveals why she declined Miss Universe Philippines-Davao City 2024 appointment
Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2018 Jehza Huelar took to social media to announce she will not be representing Davao City in this year's Miss Universe Philippines pageant.
In her statement, Jehza acknowledged how speculations about her return to pageantry circulated online and how franchise holders and organizers of MUPH took notice.
“They have seen my potential to carry Davao City on the Ms. Universe Philippines stage and appointed me officially as the representative for Davao City," she said.
But Jehza declined the appointment, saying her "current focus and priorities: my family and my studies."
The beauty queen is now a mom of two. She is also studying law at the Ateneo de Davao.
In her statement, Jehza made clear is not closing her doors on pageantry.
“If time permits and the stars in the Universe align, I can again display my pride in representing the Crown Jewel of Mindanao, Davao City,” she said.
She ended her post by expressing her gratitude for those who believe in her.
“Again, to the organizers, franchise holders of MUPH Davao, and each of you who have believed since the beginning, I am very grateful and honored for the opportunity. Thank you for your unwavering support,” she said.
In 2023, the Miss Universe Organization began welcoming new changes, including allowing moms and wives to enter.
The organization also removed the age limit for candidates.
Jehza represented the Philippines in the Miss Supranational pageant in 2018 and finished in the Top 10.
In 2019, she tied the knot with former PBA star PJ Simon and welcomed their first child in 2021, followed by their second child in 2023.
