Megan Young apologizes for fixing Miss Botswana's hair on Miss World stage

Megan Young apologizes for fixing Miss Botswana's hair on stage: 'I wanted to offer a helping hand but I failed to oversee the bigger picture'

Megan Young took to Facebook to apologize for a faux pas she committed at the Miss World coronation event on Sunday night (Manila time).

The Kapuso actress fixed the hair of Miss Botswana, Lesego Chombo, during the final round.

"I wanted to offer a helping hand but I failed to oversee the bigger picture. This could have caused distress during that moment and I have been made aware that culturally, this is unacceptable," Megan wrote.

While she said they have spoken after the incident and that she has apologized to her, Megan made sure to extend her apology to those who saw it.

"To those who witnessed the incident, I also want to apologize for any discomfort or confusion my actions may have caused. It was a thoughtless and disrespectful act, and I take full responsibility for it," Megan added.

"I assure you that it was not my intention to invade personal space or make anyone feel uncomfortable. I deeply regret my actions and will strive to be more mindful and respectful in the future," she said.

Megan, the crowned Miss World of 2014, co-hosted the coronation event of the beauty pageant in Mumbai, India. Miss Czech Republic took home the crown.

Miss Botswana, along with Miss Lebanon (Yasmina Zeytoun) and Miss Trinidad and Tobago (Aché Abrahams) were runners-up.

Philippine bet Gwendolyn Fourniol made early exit after failing to secure a spot in the Top 40.
