DLSZ Chorale earns double gold at Tokyo International Choir Competition

Young Filipino voices shone on the global stage as the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) Chorale brought home two Gold Prizes and a third-place award at the 7th Tokyo International Choir Competition held from July 25 to 27, 2025.

Composed of students from Grades 5 to 12, the DLSZ Chorale represented the Philippines with passion and artistry, impressing an international panel of judges and audiences alike.

They won in the Children’s Choir Under-18 Category, earning a Gold Prize, and in the Folklore Category, where they secured another Gold Prize, finished third overall, and received the coveted Audience Favorite Award.

The group performed under the baton of conductor Michael Kenneth Natividad Fabian, who credited the win to the discipline, dedication, and heart of his young singers.

“We are beyond grateful and immensely proud,” Fabian said.

"These students have worked so hard, and to be able to raise the Philippine flag in an international competition like this – it’s a dream come true not just for them, but for the entire DLSZ community and the country.”

Their repertoire showcased both classical pieces and traditional Filipino choral works, combining technical precision with emotional depth. The folk program in particular highlighted the richness of Filipino culture, resonating strongly with international audiences.
