GMA Integrated News journalists recognized for PH Coast Guard coverage

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Thursday recognized GMA Integrated News journalists for their pivotal role in disseminating timely, relevant, and accurate information to the public. 

The GMA awardees are:

• Jun Veneracion, reporter; Joseph Salazar, cameraman; Alfredo Loresto, assistant cameraman (GMA television news team)
• Rhudian Aguilar, senior desk editor (GMA television)
• Carlo Mateo (Super Radyo dzBB)
• Manny Vargas (Super Radyo dzBB)
• Joviland Rita (GMA News Online)

In his remarks, PCG commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan expressed appreciation for the perseverance and sacrifices of the press in covering the agency.

"Through your tireless efforts, the public is more aware of the PCG, our missions, and our victories—big or small—which belong to the entire nation," Gavan said.

"You are the reason the public knows the sacrifices we make, and the dangers that we face, day in and day out, because you too make these same sacrifices and face the same dangers,” he added.

The Philippine Coast Guard is mandated to perform maritime search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, maritime safety, maritime environmental protection, and maritime security in the country's waters.

The Coast Guard Public Affairs Service (CGPAS) on Thursday gathered media practitioners from various news agencies to acknowledge their vital contributions to the organization. 

"They have served as a bridge in strengthening public trust and confidence in the PCG by ensuring the accurate and timely dissemination of information about its missions and initiatives," the PCG said.

"The PCG aims to institutionalize closer coordination with the media by acknowledging their efforts in timely and accurate dissemination of information about the PCG's significant undertakings for country and its people," it added. — Joviland Rita/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
