Gawad Urian 2025: Dennis Trillo wins Best Actor for 'Green Bones'

Dennis Trillo took home the Best Actor award at the 48th Gawad Urian for "Green Bones."

The prestigious ceremony took place on Saturday at the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium, De La Salle University.

Other nominees for the Best Actor award were Carlo Aquino ("Crosspoint"), Baron Geisler ("Dearly Beloved"), Ruru Madrid ("Green Bones"), Sid Lucero ("Outside"), Ronnie Lazaro ("Phantosmia"), Enzo Osorio ("The Hearing").

In his speech, the Kapuso actor took his time to express his gratitude, sharing the recognition with his collaborators, and thanking the audience.

"Gusto ko pong ialay itong award na ito sa mga kasamahan kong bumuo no'ng pelikula. Halos dalawangdaang tao na nagtulong-tulong para buuin po 'yung pelikulang 'Green Bones,' siyempre po sa pamumuno ng aming batikang direktor na si Zig Madamba Dulay. Inaalay ko po itong award na ito sa kaniya," he said.

Dennis also shared the award to his fellow nominees and "Green Bones" co-stars, Ruru and Enzo.

"At siyempre, sa lahat ng mga tao na nasa likod ng camera, na 'yung iba sa kanila, mas mahirap pa 'yung mga trabahong ginawa kumpara sa mga artista, kaya inaalay ko ito sa inyo. Hindi mabubuo ang pelikula, kundi sa tulong-tulong at pagsisikap ninyong lahat," he said.

"At siyempre po, maraming salamat sa GMA Pictures, kay Ms. Annette Gozon, kay Ms. Nessa Valdellon, sa aming mga mahusay na manunulat, JC Rubio, Anj Atienza, and of course, Mr. Ricky Lee."

He also thanked his management team, Aguila Entertainment.

On a personal level, Dennis thanked his loving and ever-supportive family.

"At siyempre, sa aking mapagmahal at ever supportive na pamilya na pinamumunuan namin ni Ms. Jennylyn Mercado, na talagang number one supporter ko. At maraming salamat sa kanila, sa kanilang suporta, sa kanilang pagsuporta sa lahat ng mga nais kong gawin sa career man o sa personal na buhay," he said.

Finally, Dennis dedicated the award to the public.

"Inaalay ko itong award na ito sa lahat ng mga lumalabas para gumastos, manood ng sine, dahil talagang sa kanila lahat itong ginagawa natin. Maraming salamat po. At hanggang ngayon, nandito pa rin ako at 'yon ay dahil sa pagtangkilik ninyo. Maraming salamat po sa inyo lahat. Thank you very much."

The Gawad Urian Awards, established in 1976, is the Filipino Film Critics' measure of the artistry and skills of Filipino filmmakers.

Named after the "urian" stone used to determine the value of gold, the award is a symbol of recognition and, fundamentally, an appreciation of the creator's role toward their medium and their audience.
