5 newly opened art exhibits to check out this weekend

The Metro Manila art scene is bursting with loads of openings this week, we say ditch the mall for an afternoon and head out to a gallery to get a less gastos and a little more inspiration.

1. Hail Holy Eyes by Jigger Cruz
At BGC's Metropolitan Museum of Manila, the newest exhibit of contemporary artist Jigger Cruz opened with much aplomb this week. Curated by Beauty Gonzalez's husband Norman Crisologo, "Hail Holy Eyes" features more than 100 works of Cruz from 2007 to present, offering a rare look at the artist's bold visual language.

The trending Ellen Adarna attended the exhibit opening earlier this week, and in her Instagram Stories, reminded us that Cruz is actually color-blind. Take this little nugget of information when you step into the M and check out the exhibit. With all the color, and the texture, and really, the superb energy from his art works, you'll understand why Cruz is the celebrated artist that he is. What a genius.

"Hail Holy Eyes" runs until March 1, 2026. MK Tan Centre, 30th Street corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Philippines
