At TEDx Manila, Miss Universe PH 2026 Bea Windorski gives talk on 'The Politics of Pretty'
Miss Universe PH 2026 Bea Windorski was among the speakers at the recently concluded TEDx Manila event, where she talked about the role of beauty pageants in nation building.
"It was an honor to present my talk, 'The Politics of Pretty: The Role of Pageantry in Nation Building'," she wrote on Instagram.
According to Bea, her talk was based on her historical and anthrolopigcal research with the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
"The talk centered around the tension I feel as an activist and academic who critiques institutions while still being a pageant contestant who participates in one," Bea said.
"I beige this tension is where meaningful change happens," she continued, as she expressed hope to build a world where people aren't afraid to "demand the kind of future we deserve."
Apart from Bea, TEDx Manila speakers include film director JP Habac, and beauty queen and host Joy Barcoma, to name a couple.
With a theme Tagpi-Tapi, TEDx Manila took place last August 2.
Meanwhile, Bea will represent the Philippines at the global Miss Universe competition in Puerto Rico come November.
