Korean docs to give 300 cops free acupuncture
MANILA, Philippines – Some 300 cops, along with their dependents and some journalists, will get the needle on July 10 – that is, acupuncture needles, courtesy of a South Korean medical mission. The mission aims to help the policemen cope with stress, cure illnesses like diabetes, relieve pains in the shoulders, back, neck, and even urinary and menstrual problems. This was announced on Friday by Director General Avelino Razon Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police, at the weekly Talakayan sa Isyung Pulis forum held at Camp Crame. The mission – which takes place at the Camp Crame grandstand – is being sponsored by Rotary Club of Pasay led by Councilor Emi Calixto-Rubiano and the Aida Sy Foundation. The medical team is composed of around 20 South Korean doctors and acupuncture experts who will conduct the acupuncture session for free. The usual cost of an acupuncture session is no less than P2,000. Acupuncture is effective treatment to digestive disorders like hyperacidity, spastic colon and constipation; respiratory disorders like sinusitis, sore throat, bronchitis, asthma, and recurrent chest infections; neurological and muscular disorders like headaches, facial ties, neck pain, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, various forms of tendinitis, and low back pain; and urinary, menstrual and reproductive problems. "Our foundation and the Rotary Club of Pasay believe that we also have to take care of our police officers," Sy said at the forum. "I'm sure we can inspire them to maintain peace and order in our communities if we also make them feel that we care for them. This acupuncture will surely help them cope with stress and who knows it might just heal whatever illnesses they have." - GMANews.TV
