YouScooper declares 'I love my wife!' with 1,000 cut-out hearts
It has been a habit for us to show our immense affection for our loved ones every February 14.
With Valentine's Day being one of the most commercialized yearly events in the country, people flock to Manila's central flower market to buy ornate bouquets, shell out money for expensive chocolates and other sweets, purchase costly material gifts or spend cash on extravagant dinner dates.
However, some of us do tend to be frugal on occassions like this – opting for a romantic stroll in the park or cooking a lavish meal at home for that someone special – as long at it showcases an effort to show your love.
YouScooper Vic Regala has been surprising his wife every Valentine's Day with grand gestures of affection coupled with intense preparation and attention to detail.

Vic's V-Day surprise to his wife: hearts decorate the house's exterior.

Inside the house, more cut-out hearts adorn the walls scribbled with messages, songs, places, or details that tell their love story.
"Actually, yung mga normal things, nagawa ko na sila before. So I'm thinking na why don't I make [this year yung] mas ma-appreciate niya. Parang na-insipire ako gumawa ng mas grand [gesture] kesa sa dati na usual lang," Vic said over the phone, who shared that, last year they went out-of-town.
From the inside (the living room, dining room) to the outside (the garage, the gate) of the house, walls were adorned with hearts of varying sizes the night before Valentine's. Each heart has a message, a pick-up line, a love quote, a song, date, place, or activity that's important or memorable to the couple.
"Mas nakakapagod siya [gawin], mas mahirap. Mahirap mag-isip kung ano gagawin. A thousand messages, mahirap-mag isip ng isususlat. Pag tingin ko parang kulang, dagdag lang ako ng dagdag," Vic shared.
The morning of February 14, his wife was so surprised to see their house decorated with cut-out hearts. "[Though] she's not the type na very emotional at although may idea na siya na may surprise ako, sobrang nasurprise pa din siya sa regalo ko," Vic said.
YouScooper Vic and his wife have been married since April 2006.
"I guess, like what they always say, it's the thought that counts. When you say na ganun, hindi kailangan na pinakamahal ang regalo mo. For me, kahit hindi siya mahal, pero dapat mas makita yung effort. Di ako kuntento na magkasama lang kami, mas maganda kapag may effort," Vic stated, noting that we should always think what our loved one would really appreciate to have in giving gifts or making gestures of love. – Danessa O.
