Blazers and biker chic in Philippine Fashion Week round-up, part 1

Philippine Fashion Week has rolled up its runways and turned off the lights, done for the year—but not without showcasing some distinctive looks and a few discernible trends. Below, a quick runway run-through of the season’s latest must-haves from Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2013.

Tailored, clean lined blazers with interesting lapels. Whether they were paired with matching pants or voluminous skirts, it was nonetheless a balance between the polished and the flamboyant.

Real Wear Tip: Take an extra long blazer (something mid-thigh) and wear it alone and close-buttoned. You get the lines of a suit but the femininity of a dress.

Mid-section

Loose or tight, the crop top is one of the year’s strongest signatures. Worn with low-rise jeans, pencil, A-line, or floor-length skirts, this trend simply goes with everything.

Real Wear Tip: Know your body type. The trick to wearing crop tops is knowing how much skin to bare. Curvier women can get away with a higher hem for the top and a lower hanging bottom.

The wave

The flounce is a detail that can make anything feminine. Worn as a shoulder or leg detail, it bears the presence of style’s new accessory.

Real Wear Tip: The flounce is a strong detail to wear. Make sure to offset with simple shoes, slicked-back hair and little to no jewelry.

The gloss of latex and the tough, rugged nature of leather put some spice into any outfit.

Real Wear Tip: These textiles are very strong. Make sure to pair it with something simple like tattered denims or a simple tank top.

Show some leg

The mullet cut gives the best of both worlds—a sexy view of your legs in the front and the flowing elegance of draped fabric at the back.

Real Wear Tip: This skirt provides a lot of movement so balance with a tight top.
