School's out for kids, but the learning doesn't have to stop with the onset of summer vacation. Here are a few summer workshops to keep your brood productive, happy, and possibly out of trouble—just make sure to ask them what their preferences are.
The power of clay at the MET
Can you free the shapes in the clay?
In line with the Metropolitan Museum of Manila's “Abueva: The power of form” exhibition, the museum is offering a family-bonding activity via sculpting through clay molding. Sessions take place on May 3 and May 17 at the MET Lab.

Tech-savviness at the Power Mac Center
Equip the future of the Digital Age with some basic, valuable know-how while still honing their creativity. Whether in Trinoma or Greenbelt, kids can engage in one of four five-day courses: Programming & Game Development, Digital Artwork, Multimedia & Productivity, and Adobe classes. The Multimedia course costs P5,000 while the rest costs P6,000.
According to the press release, the workshops are conducted by Power Mac Center Apple Authorized Training Center Trainers, the Power Mac Center Summer Workshops 2014 will have two batches and venues of training for convenience and accessibility to participants.
The first batch is scheduled at the Trinoma branch on the third week of April to the first week of May while the second batch will be held at the Greenbelt 3 branch from the second week of May to the third week of May.
Interested participants are encouraged to register in advance as available seats per course are limited to ensure a more focused discussion. Dance 'til you drop
Think you or your kids need more exercise? Here is a fun way to get into the habit. In celebration of their 10th anniversary, Acts Academy is giving summer dance workshops in two batches. First batch sessions are already coming to a close as of this writing, but fear not—second batch classes begin on April 30.
For regular classes, kids can learn hiphop and ballet, but a wider range of dance schools is available for teens and adults: three levels of hiphop, lyrical hiphop, contemporary hiphop, and jazzfunk. Each class—12 sessions each—costs P4,000.
Meanwhile, open dance and fitness classes are also available. Learn hiphop, breakdance, lyrical hiphop, K-Pop, Zumba, TRX Blast, and TRX Circuit. Walk-ins for either dance or fitness classes are priced at P250. 9 sessions will cost P2,000 while P3,000 will get you unlimited sessions.

Read, art, and story-tell all you can
If you are the sort of parent who complains about their kids always being glued to their screens, DiksyonaryoATBP's summer reading camp may just alleviate the situation for a little while. On May 3 within Luneta Park grounds, kids may read their favorite books from Filipino authors, unleash their artistic skills, and listen to talented storytellers bring their favorite stories to life from 10 a.m. to 12 n.n. And 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Take dance to the next level
For those who would like to take dance more seriously, Airdance Runway might be offering what you're looking for. Beginning April 21, Airdance is a 6-week intensive workshop (12 sessions) where students will be trained in Contemporary, Jazz, and Hiphop in either Beginner or Advanced levels. And, for the first time ever, Airdance is offering Beginner's Aerial Silk and Aerial Hoop classes.
Classes culminate in a Recital Concert/Fashion Show on June 1, 2014 in UP's Bahay ng Alumni.

Whether your kids are budding fashion designers or animators, the Young Artists Studio has something to their tastes. Programs include Art for Beginners, Basic and Intermediate Painting and Drawing, Advanced Oil Painting, Fashion Design & Illustration, Making Plush Toys and Dolls, Make Up & Fashion Styling, Basic Digital Art, and Animation.
Second batch classes begin in May across six branches: Visayas Avenue, Loyola Heights, Greenhills, Ortigas, Mandaluyong, and Fully Booked in Bonifacio Global City. Not all classes are offered in the same branches and prices vary with each program. Each program may also have special requirements.
Channel their energies into a sport

If you'd like your kids to learn the value of both hard work and teamwork, go to your nearest McDonald's restaurant and enroll them in the McDonald's Kiddie Crew Workshop (registration up to April 30). The 5-day, 2-hour workshop offers on-the-floor training, a Talent Workshop, a values formation lecture, and more.

A different kind of theater and fashion experience
Make Believe Productions has partnered with Fully Booked for their Kids Theater Project (ages 4 and up) and Little Fashionista programs (ages 6 and up). Second batch runs from April 23 to May 19 in Fully Booked Alabang Town Center, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Culminating shows are on May 21, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Theatrically-inclined kids will engage with shadow puppetry, storytelling, story crafting, and even get to compose an original song. Meanwhile, the fashion-forward will be giving their all as they design clothes and accessories.
