Rolls Royce Wraith rolls out for the first time at 10th Manila International Auto Show

The Philippines has been attracting some of the biggest players in the luxury car market lately, and the recent launch of the Rolls Royce Wraith signals the entry of another coveted classic.

“We present Wraith as the Ultimate Gran Turismo for the Philippines,” said Asia Pacific Regional Director Paul Harris, following the inauguration of the first Rolls-Royce Motor car dealership in the Philippines. “This is a true, four-seater super-luxury motor car that exhibits both the most contemporary and dynamic aspects of the brand, without sacrificing Rolls-Royce’s trademark refinement and pinnacle craftsmanship. We feel the timing is now appropriate to showcase our latest model at the Manila International Auto Show, as it is one of the most prominent motor industry events in the Philippines.”

The launch of the Wraith means the Philippines will now be introduced to the bold, commanding cuts that entranced some of the richest and most powerful individuals around the world. Ultimate automobile luxury will now be in reach to the tune of P33 to 38 million pesos.

“We are very excited to bring Wraith to the Philippines. Our official presence at the Manila International Auto Show underlines our commitment to bring more awareness of the brand’s benchmark excellence to this market,” added Willy Tee Ten, President of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Manila.

The price of each unit varies depending on the customization of each owner. The car manufacturer prides in giving its customers an array of options, especially with the interior. Rolls Royce boasts of quality leather and wood panels called "Canadel Panelling", which is named after a known cove in the French Riviera where founder Sir Henry Royce and his team spent their winters.

Another feature of the Wraith is the Starlight Headliner, as 1,340 fiber optic lamps are found hand-woven into the roof lining to give a starry night sky feel.

Aside from the interior, the car manufacturer also boasts of powerful engine performance, as it carries a V12 engine with an 8-speed automatic ZF transmission. The Wraith clocks in a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.6 seconds, faster than its brother Ghost's 4.9. Handling is also improved, as Rolls Royce continues to mimic the sensation of "riding on a bed of air". In their commitment to improving technology, the manufacturer also used Satellite Aided Transmission (SAT) technology.

With the SAT, the vehicle uses GPS data to anticipate the driver's next move based on location and driving style, selecting the best gear for what's ahead.

The Wraith also features advance voice activation commands. Drivers no longer have to type their destination in the navigation panel. Rather, plainly saying "Navigate to Ayala, Makati" would suffice.

With each unit flirting closely to a million dollars, it makes sense that it takes one to six months to build a Rolls Royce vehicle. At least 30 people are also involved in its manufacturing. The brand revealed that it sold 3,630 units in 2013 to further establish itself as a top player in the super-luxury market. — VC, GMA News
