Ecru and closed-toe shoes for graduating Iskolar ng Bayan
The University of the Philippines on Thursday reminded its graduating scholars of the proper attire to wear during the 103rd General Commencement at Diliman this Sunday by tweeting a link to a YouTube video prepared by UP Los Baños.
In the video, graduates were reminded to "look the part," with boys wearing barong, slacks and leather shoes; and girls wearing ecru-colored dresses or tops, with the skirts going down to the midcalf or ankle level.
Girls were also reminded to wear closed-toe shoes.
The video also showed graduates the proper way to wear the sablay, UP's official academic costume: hanging from the right shoulder.
UPLB also issued guidelines on wearing the sablay, including:
- it should be worn only with medals for academic achievement and a minimum of jewelry.
- it should not be worn with corsages and leis.
Commencement exercise schedules
The UP System on Wednesday issued the schedule of commencement exercises for its campuses:
April 25: UP Manila, Visayas, Diliman Extension Program (Pampanga)
April 26: UP Los Baños
April 27: UP Diliman
April 28: UP Baguio
April 30: UP Cebu, Manila School of Health Sciences - Koronadal, South Cotabato
May 3: UP Open University and UP Manila School of Health Sciences - Baler, Aurora
UP Mindanao had its commencement eercises on April 23.
Sereno to be guest speaker
Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno will be the guest speaker at the Diliman commencement rites on Sunday, the UP System tweeted on Thursday.
