Rain is coming: Check out the raincoat options available on the market
Now that the wet season is here, it's time to be ready to face torrential monsoon rains. Aside from rain boots and umbrellas, why not add raincoats to your rainy-day must-have?
Unang Hirit spoke with shopping expert Camille Liwanag on Monday to explain the different uses of various types of raincoats.
Who says your raincoat should be boring and monochromatic? One of the basic raincoats you can find just about anywhere is the type with colorful prints, perfect for kids or those who want to have something out of the usual.
For students of any level or office workers who have to bring big backpacks to work, the basic poncho raincoat is the one for you. It's big enough to accommodate you and your bag!
For motorcycle riders, there are a number of options to consider. One is a raincoat with a detachable hood. According to Liwanag, this type of rain gear is ideal for those who have to wear helmets or caps.
Another is a raincoat not just for you, but for your ride. The single rider motorcycle raincoat can cover you and your motorcycle, even its mirrors! It also has a visor and luminous reflector stripes on the back for added safety when riding at night.
If there are two of you, there's another product you can go for: a tandem-type raincoat that covers the rider and his pillion-riding passenger, or the double rider motorcycle raincoat. It also covers the motorcycle.
Most of these raincoats are made from waterproof PVC material, said Liwanag. They cost from P100-P700, depending on the design and additional features. — Trisha Macas/BM, GMA News
