Ines de La Fressange, Uniqlo team up for Fall Winter 2014 Collection

Just some of the offerings of the Fall Winter 2014 collection.

Renowned French model and designer Ines de la Fressange and Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo team up once again for their Fall Winter 2014 Collection, an assortment that embodies playfulness, elegance, and simplicity.

The new collection was officially launched at Uniqlo’s SM Megamall outlet on September 26, where members of the press, lifestyle bloggers, and fashion enthusiasts were invited to see the assortment on display. Also part of the event was model Marina Benepayo, who wore some of the store's latest offerings.

Parisian style

“I wanted to retain the spirit we created in the Spring Summer collection,” shared de La Fressange said in a press release. “I love things that are unadorned, genuine, and comfortable to wear.”

“For the Fall Winter items, I wanted to create lovely things that have the same elegance. One of the traditional European fabrics I wanted to include was tweed. With coats and jackets, the fabric and cut are important, and it was a real treat for me to be able to incorporate playful details and enjoy styling the clothing freely,” she added.

The French-born de La Fressange cut her teeth in the fashion industry as a model, eventually becoming Chanel’s featured model from 1983 to 1990. Among her most notable achievements was when she was selected by the French government to act as the likeness for a bust of the Republic’s national emblem, Marianne, in 1989.

She has since made a name for herself as a designer, journalist, writer, and fashion consultant. She currently functions as the creative director of her own brand, Ines de La Fressange Paris. Additionally, her book “Parisian Chic” has been translated into 17 languages, and has sold over a million copies worldwide.

The pieces she conceptualized for the collection range from the standard (trench coats, shirts, cardigans, skirts, and trousers) to the spiffy (silk dresses and tuxedo jackets). According to de La Fressange, the Fall Winter 2014 Collection was designed with the needs of the working woman in mind.

Flavors of the seasons

Fall and winter—seasons absent from the Philippine weather cycle—are effectively conveyed through the predominant colors in the assortment: a mix of cool blues, muted grays, and stylish blacks.

The collection features skirts (ranging from P1,490 – P1,990), pants (P1,990 – P2,490), dresses (P1,990 – P3,990), and shirts (P1,490) that can easily fit in with any professional’s wardrobe. Optimized for a comfortable fit and carefully tailored to Ines’s specifications, the pieces exude elegance and class, even in their simplicity.

For those who wish to add a little more “oomph” to their usual office attire, the collection also includes tuxedo jackets (P4,990), coats (P6,990), and accessories such as belts and berets (P990 – P1,490) that may add a touch of sophistication to any ensemble without making the wearer look overdressed.

There are also slim fit corduroy pants (P1,990), cotton lawn print shirts (P1,490) and compact jackets (P2,490), best suited for casual activities and more laid-back affairs.

Interestingly, the crowd favorite was the classic trench coat (P6,990), crafted to go along well with a multitude of outfits and styles, while offering protection against strong winds and other elements of nature.
