Richly colored gowns from NE Tiger and black and white designs representing purity and simplicity by Lai Rui dominated the first day of China Fashion Week in Beijing on Oct. 25.

Lai said her inspiration came from years of exploration into femininity, and that concise design and fine tailoring were the main features of her show.

"I use my designs in black and white to express the three ideas—perfection, simplicity, and purity. It means that I hope women can use these simple and pure designs in their life to express their inner heart," she said.

The Beijing Fashion Week will run until Nov. 1, and is expected to draw participants from 89 clothing brands and organizations, with 64 shows and three contests. — Reuters
