WATCH: Music video marks Yolanda anniversary: 'We Will Rise Again'

On Nov. 8, 2013, the strongest storm in the world at the time swept over several Visayan islands, leaving 6,000 dead in its wake and thousands more sick, homeless, and hungry even close to a year later.

But even while struggling to survive under the long shadow of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), affected Filipinos have valiantly kept their spirits up and attempted to rebuild their lives through a combination of generous aid and whatever little has been left to them. Likewise, countless individuals and organizations have pitched in to help the survivors remake their communities and their futures.

It is this spirit of resilience and bayanihan that are being paid tribute to in “We Will Rise Again,” the official Yolanda Anniversary music video produced by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery (OPARR).

It was launched simultaneously in cinemas and TV stations all over the country at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The link to the video was shared by all government agencies, television networks, cinemas, development partners, and private sector partners on their official websites and other social media platforms.

With lyrics performed by Raki Vega and composed by Jude Gitamondo, the video is five minutes long.  — Vida Cruz/JST, GMA News
