Fashion and beauty bets for the holidays: Shu Uemura, Vince Camuto, Havaianas
By CHINA JOCSON
The 2014 holiday season is happening right now. It's still a little early for panic-buying, but if you're scouting for stocking stuffers, today’s round-up offers the latest trends from some international brands.

The line-up of products include the Shupette has-it-all eye and lip palette, which comes in eight eye shadow and lipstick shades; the Lip Bonbon, an oil-based lip color that promises a more vivid and luminous luster; the Shupette Cheek Blush Duo, the Eye Glitter Set and other essentials like drawing pencils and face powder.
Shades of bright pink, ivory yellow, magenta and violet are dominant for this holiday collection, not to mention the mandatory shimmer and glitter infused in the make-up line.
Named after international designer Karl Lagerfeld’s spoiled blue-eyed feline, Choupette (who also models in the promotional photos for the brand), Shupette hopes to highlight its wearer’s features and make them shine for the season.
Vince Camuto Holiday 2014

Prime Cuts features a collection of asymmetrical and honeycomb cut-out designs, diamond perforations, scalloped edges and peep-toe footwear silhouettes. Shoes and handbags are in soft calf and true suede combinations that come in shades of rich black, grey and dark walnut.
Fringe Benefits, as the name suggests, features oversize fringes as details together with chains, gold buckles and blocked heels.
Band Practice gets you strapped with modern gladiator and caged uppers, lock closures and multiple bands and buckle fastenings.
What this author fancied with the Vince Camuto Holiday 2014 line is its refreshing difference from most color palettes this season—it opted for classic and nude tones rather than joining the sparkly bandwagon. By adopting these trusted hues, the collection is set to outlast the holiday trend, making it worth the Filipina’s peso.
Vince Camuto is available in Central Square Bonifacio High Street, Rustan’s Makati, Glorietta, Alabang Town Center and Shangri-La Plaza Mall.
Francis Libiran for Havaianas

“Flip-flops are ingrained in Philippine culture, so I could only imagine the statement my designs would make on them,” Libiran said. “Because people use them everyday, I thought some people would question why they would be so designed, because they’re just flip-flops, but for me, it’s about creating wearable pieces of art.”
The designer said he wears the brand himself. “I personally have to have my Havaianas every summer, so when they told me about the project, I was really excited,” he said.
