BPI, DOT unveil #MoreFunBPI ATM designs featuring local tourist spots

DOT's marketing and promotions arm Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) chief operating officer Domingo Ramon Enerio III and BPI president and CEO Cezar Consing along with other BPI executives unveil a #MoreFunBPI ATM featuring a jeeney design.

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) introduced on Thursday the new ambassadors of Philippine tourism. These are the selected BPI automated teller machines across the country, which are designed to feature Filipino culture and local tourist destinations.

For the event, BPI president and CEO Cezar Consing and DOT's marketing and promotions arm Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) chief operating officer Domingo Ramon Enerio III along with other BPI executives unveiled the jeepney BPI kiosk as one of the #MoreFunBPI ATM designs. Other designs included Boracay, Mayon Volcano, and Tubbataha reef.

During the #MoreFunBPI launch, the head of the Retail Segments and Channels Group of BPI Natividad Alejo explained, "Through our strategic partnership with the Department of Tourism, we have selected key Philippine locations that are deemed popular among our foreign visitors."

She added, "We have made selected BPI ATMs standout and stand up as Philipine ambassadors of tourism. The next time you visit the mall, airports, and tourist spots you may be surprised to withdraw under the sea of a Tubbataha reef ATM, cash in a jeepney ATM, fall in line along the white sands of a Boracay ATM, or stand at the foot of a Mayon Volcano ATM."

These tourist-friendly kiosks can be found in selected areas in Metro Manila, Boracay, Subic, Palawan, Davao, Cebu, and Baguio.

Visit the PHL in 2015

At the launch of the #MoreFunBPI ATM designs, Enerio said that the #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines campaign was effective because it challenges the Filipinos to "walk the talk."

To prove this, he said that when the campaign was first introduced, they only had three posters. But now, there are thousands of #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines posters donated by Filipinos from all over the world.

Refreshing the campaign, DOT declared 2015 to be the Visit the Philippines Year and Enerio encourages the Filipinos to "roll out the red carpet" for foreign visitors such as Pope Francis, foreign dignitaries, and other tourists.

The Philippines in the future will also host international gastronomic summit Madrid Fusión, the first-ever MTV Music Evolution that will showcase iconic and up-and-coming regional and local music artists on one stage, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meetings and Leaders' Summit, and other big events. — VC, GMA News
