The Force is strong in this one: ‘Star Wars X Folded & Hung’ line unleashed

Designs from a galaxy far, far away

Yoda once told Luke Skywalker, “Adventure. Excitement. A Jedi craves not these things.”

However, even the most stalwart Jedi Master would have a hard time resisting the latest collaborative clothing collection to mind-trick its way into Folded & Hung’s racks.

Behold: fashion from a galaxy far, far away.

The return of the Jedi (and the Sith, too)

Just in time for the release of the much-anticipated trailer for the upcoming “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens”, the fashion brand has unleashed its “Star Wars X Folded & Hung” apparel line, partnering up The Walt Disney Company to craft an all-new set of fashion pieces based on the massively popular “Star Wars” license.

VIPs, fashion bloggers, members of the press, and longtime fans of the “Star Wars” multimedia franchise were invited to the launch of the collection last December 6 at the New Fashion Hall in SM Megamall.

Hosted by DJ Sanya Smith, the event showcased models, Folded & Hung ambassadors, and celebrity endorsers – including TV personality Maggie Wilson, fashion bloggers David Guison and Camille Co, and Folded & Hung endorser (and self-professed “Star Wars” fan) Elmo Magalona – parading on the catwalk while sporting “Star Wars”-inspired threads.

The line was formally launched by Folded & Hung CEO and president Ronald Pineda. The clothing brand’s “big boss” also broke the news that the company was recognized by The Walt Disney Company as its Licensee of the Year, for its previous collaboration lines featuring popular Marvel properties such as Spider-Man and the Avengers.

The fashion show concluded with a screening of the trailer for “The Force Awakens” (which has generated so much buzz over the past week, even inspiring a LEGO-themed reinterpretation).

'These are the duds you’re looking for'

The “Star Wars X Folded & Hung” collection features tops, skirts, and accessories emblazoned with famous scenes and beloved characters from the “Star Wars” films.

Above and below: Star Wars style for men and women

Clothing pieces for men include T-shirts and long-sleeved shirts with images of beloved characters such as R2D2, C3PO, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Luke Skywalker, spandex polo shirts with embroidered Stormtroopers, raglan-sleeve tops featuring master Yoda, black and white cosmic-patterned bomber jackets, and Sith-themed hoodies with Darth Vader’s iconic helmet that would definitely make the fashion-conscious switch over to the Dark Side of the Force.

For women, the collection boasts high-fashion pieces such as shift dresses, bandage skirts, casual tops (combining mesh sleeves in rayon and poly-spandex), and leggings decorated with movie-inspired artwork, character posters, and galactic fight scenes and explosions from the first “Star Wars” trilogy.

The apparel line also includes “Star Wars”-inspired backpacks, caps, and sports bags – perfect for any hardcore Rebel or Imperial soldier’s collection. (Unfortunately, the collection does not include any actual, functioning lightsabers, but still.)

“Star Wars” fans who plan to imbue their street-style clothing options with the power of the Force would certainly want to check this out; otherwise, the gigantic LEGO Darth Vader statue at the event might find their lack of faith disturbing.
