PHLPost said it has printed 102,400 pieces of the commemorative Salud S. Tesoro Birth Centenary stamps.

It noted Tesoro, a resident of Baliuag in Bulacan born in 1915, opened the first Tesoro’s store in Escolta, Manila.

According to PHLPost, Amstar Inc. printed the stamps using imported unwatermarked paper. The stamps sell at P10 each.

While its first store catered mostly to American soldiers after World War II, Tesoro's has become known as a one-stop shop of Philippine treasures.

PHLPost said Tesoro’s boosted Filipino ingenuity with 12 branches nationwide. It is now one of the largest Philippine handicraft retail chains.

“The Philippine Postal Corporation commemorates the birth centenary of Salud Tesoro and her passion to showcase the best of Philippine artifacts in the country and to the world,” Postmaster General Josefina dela Cruz said.

Each stamp measures 35mm x 50mm and was laid out by in-house artist Victorino Serevo.

Stamps and souvenir sheet shall be available starting Friday, Feb. 6, at all PHLPost post shops and online via Pinoy eMall. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
