LOOK: Google marks Valentine’s Day with short animated doodles
Even in the digital age, there's much room for love. This is the message of short animated doodles Google has prepared for Saturday to celebrate Valentine's Day.
Visitors to Google's homepage on Saturday were greeted with five short animations showing – in the words of the doodle's creators – how "technology brings people together."
"Whether a time for a romantic date, to catch up with friends, or catch up on cat videos, Valentine's Day is a good excuse to connect with the world around you. As nerds, the doodle team wanted to sweeten up our homepage with ways in which technology brings people together," Jennifer Hom and Olivia Huynh said.
Among the animations are sending affectionate text messages, charging each other's laptops, sharing earphones, sharing umbrellas in the rain and running into each other via maps.
In all five short animations, the two o's in the "Google" logo play the part of the lovers.
"The gesture may be as subtle as charging someone else's laptop or as bold as sending an affectionate text, but technology is fully engrained in the ways we express appreciation for one another," they added.
The five animations include:
- Running into each other while using maps, with the locator pins forming a heart
- Bonding by sharing headphones
- Bumping into each other while using mobile devices in the rain
- Sharing affectionate text messages
- Charging another's laptop
