Did Leonard Nimoy share the secret of LLAP in last 2 tweets?
Leonard Nimoy, known to most as the Vulcan Mr. Spock on Star Trek, may have just bequeathed the secret to living long and prosperously in two Twitter posts that turned out to be his last.
The two tweets were posted Feb. 23, before Nimoy was rushed to a hospital for chest pains – the last tweet having been retweeted more than 230,000 times as of Saturday.
"A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP," Nimoy said in what turned out to be his last tweet.
LLAP refers to "Live long and prosper," the Vulcan salute rendered by Spock, the character Nimoy portrayed in the Star Trek universe.
As of 3 p.m. Saturday (PHL time), it had been retweeted 235,442 times and favorited 156,912 times.
In what would be his second-to-the last tweet, Nimoy shared his poetry, "You and I have Learned."
Photographer, advocate
Nimoy, who died at age 83, prospered not just as the actor who portrayed the Vulcan Mr. Spock on Star Trek, but also as a photographer and voice actor.
An article on tech site Mashable noted Nimoy as a photographer also managed to take up the cudgels for full-bodied women, publishing his photo collection "The Full Body Project" in 2007.
He was also a voice actor who portrayed Galvatron in Transformers the Movie (1986) and Sentinel Prime in Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), as well as:
