Cebu cat cafe offers purr-fect relaxation
People looking to start the day on a positive note might want to try this purr-fect place in Cebu City.
Welcome to the cat cafe in Barangay Guadalupe where Stimpy, Ninja, Kush, Samurai, Cheech, Chong, Pumpkin, Bubblegum and Smoke kill your worries with cuteness.
The cats are Persian and American short-hair breeds, GMA Cebu's Chona Carreon reported Monday on GMA News TV's "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon."
All the cats are well-trained, clean and vaccinated, the report said.
"Marami silang benefits sa mga tao at the same time in return, ang mga cats kasi nagse-seek ng affection sa mga tao kaya ang benefit both ways," said co-owner Astrid Mendoza.
Co-owner John Mendoza said the cat cafe should also be a boon to those who cannot afford to keep pets at home.
"Ma-e-experience ng mga tao na hindi pwedeng mag-alaga ng pet sa kanilang bahay ang chance na makalaro ang mga pusa," John said.
However, customers will have to abide by some house rules—including washing their hands before and after eating, and before and after playing with the cats.
Customers are also prohibited from being cruel to the cats like plucking their whiskers or pulling their tails—or touching them if they are in the middle of a siesta.
So far, the combination of coffee, pastries and cute cats has been a winning formula.
"Before, I used to have cats. So very malambing din kasi sila, minsan magka-cuddle up sila sa iyo. Relaxing, masaya magkaroon ng mga cats," said customer Coleen Afecion. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
